Saccharin (1,1-dioxo-1,2-benzothiazol-3-one) is the most commonly used accelerator in anaerobic adhesives. Saccharin (Benzoic sulfimide) is used in the manufacture of plating agents and surface treating agents, agricultural products (non-pesticide), paints and coatings and plastic and rubber products.

Saccharin is used in high performance adhesives and sealants.

It also has a role as a sweetening agent, a xenobiotic, a flavoring agent, and a non-nutritive sweetener.
